When I say this shoot was a blast, I mean it was a BLAST! Katelynn found me a few months ago, we chatted on the phone about their story and her vision for engagement photos and their wedding. Then, I invited her and Zach over for one of our client and friend cookouts, and they actually came! Usually, couples I haven’t worked with yet don’t come, but these two did! We stayed up late with two other couples and had a great time. At one point, we were talking about the cost of alfalfa and I said “I remember when it was like, $5 for a bale!” Zach looked at me kinda funny and we kept talking. Then a few minutes later, Zach said, “Wait, $5 for a round bale”. If you don’t know about alfalfa, there are two different types of bales you can get: round and square (it’s really more of a rectangle). The round ones are MASSIVE. Like, you have to move them with a tractor. The square ones are much smaller and can be easily moved by hand. As you can imagine, the larger ones are a lot more expensive too. So $5 for a round bale made no sense to Zach, but growing up on a ranch, all they used was round bales, so I understand where the confusion came from. Anyway, to end this rambling, Zach thought I remembered when a massive $100 bale was only $5… which would’ve made me way older than I actually am.

This session took place at his family’s ranch near Snyder, TX. I’m telling you, the drive was well worth it. It was beautiful and had so much cool history. I guess there’s some kind of cemetery there. I wanted to see it, but you know, “stay on task” and everything. Next time I’ll get my true crime jam on.

One of my prompts is to have couples tickle each other. I’ve been doing this for a decade and have never had a couple where neither of them is ticklish. So, I assumed that tickling would be a fun posing prompt… Well, about halfway through the session, I realized they weren’t really laughing. So, I asked if they were even ticklish. NOPE. Facepalm. We resorted to silly posing prompts and my terrible mom jokes.

This engagement photo session was so much fun. From getting stickers in their butts to trying to accidentally flashing the cattle, Katelynn and Zach are the sweetest couple!
