Meet Brooke
Brooke is a vibrant and bold gal who is not only passionate about fashion but is super talented as well. When we started planning our shoot, she asked me about outfits, and despite me being a bit of a control freak (ok, maybe a lot of a control freak), I had total faith that she would do something amazing. She did not disappoint. Brooke owns Brookeside Clothing, a boutique based in Lubbock, TX (and online) with tons of amazing pieces. Brooke has loved fashion since she was a child. She has held true to that passion and done amazing things, continuing to push the envelope. Not only has her clothing store been super successful, but she is also going to cosmetology school while running her business.
It’s easy to see why Brooke has been so successful – she’s outgoing, kind, and creative. She has that drive and passion that makes even the craziest dreams a reality.
Brooke’s mission is:
…to inspire and empower other women to feel good about themselves and help boost their confidence. Together, we can create a space to encourage each other and feel good about ourselves along the way!
I don’t know about you, but I support that mission fully. At the end of the session, we started talking about helping each other out in a local market. It’s easy to see competition as a threat, but we share the view that community is far more important than competition. It’s essential for us small business owners, the ones who are fighting every day to follow their passion, to love and support one another. We’re all in this together, after all. As we were shooting over here, Brooke was leaning on the rail, looking my direction. Then all of a sudden, this man walked around that corner and came up behind her. She was startled and definitely freaked out. I wish I had gotten a photo of her reaction, but I was just as startled. Then I realized it was my soon-to-be father-in-law! He was having a beer with an associate at the brewery we were in front of and spotted us. He came out to mess with us and say hi. Thanks, John.
Did I mention Brooke is also a stellar model? I got some new memory cards on Cyber Monday and turns out, they couldn’t keep up with us. She was striking a badass pose with every shot, and my memory card just couldn’t handle the heat.
And then we changed outfits… QUEEN. Guys. I have no words.
She got this outfit for a Vegas trip that, unfortunately, didn’t happen. This was the first time she had put it on and JAWS DROPPED.

And then… when I thought she had pulled out all the stops already, Brooke just hit a new level. We weren’t sure about this building at first (it was run down and there was a for sale sign that I had to crop out of most of these), but it ended up being the perfect backdrop.
I could’ve stayed here the entire session, but I wanted some more variety, so we went over to another building downtown that’s brand new. And things got EVEN BETTER. I’m just obsessed… can you tell?
So you can faintly make out a weird black object in the reflection of the window above and to the left of Brooke’s head… I found this PERFECT spot and then there’s this huge gorilla statue just chillin in the reflection. I wasn’t about to mess with editing that out, so I got creative and just made it less obvious. But it was pretty funny to have this stunning photo with a random gorilla statue just hanging out in the reflection.

I mean, it adds some character to the photo, but a gorilla, really?! It’s cool, whatever. Brooke steals the show.
Aside from being photo bombed by my future father-in-law and a gorilla statue, it was a solid photoshoot. Brooke absolutely killed it. My husband and I were so happy with Kensey. She is very professional, yet personable and fun! She’s invested in her couples and does everything she can to meet every need. She even had a sewing kit when my husbands button popped off of his jacket and held onto my shawl just in case I needed it during the wedding since it was a little chilly out! She is so easy to communicate with and captured so many amazing moments. We’re so happy with our photos and will cherish them for a lifetime.
