You’re engaged! Congratulations! Your Lubbock TX wedding venue choice will be the single biggest determinate of the overall aesthetic of your wedding, so no pressure, right? I’m here to tell you my top picks for Lubbock TX wedding venues. These are all based on my opinion and experience as a Lubbock wedding photographer. Ultimately, there is no right or wrong venue, what matters is how it makes you feel! I encourage you to pay attention to the way the venue staff and owners interact with you and how they make you feel, because this will be a long-term relationship from “yes” to “I do”.

My criteria from a bright and airy Lubbock wedding photographer’s perspective are:

1. Light-colored or shiny ceilings and walls – this will help tremendously in keeping the lighting consistent from morning to midnight. We use walls and ceilings to “bounce” or reflect our flash, so the lighter the surface is, the better flash lighting there will be.
2. Lots of natural light – again, this helps a lot with keeping images consistent throughout the day. I’m always prepared with a flash, just in case, but I would much rather use natural light whenever possible.
3. Versatility – for the sake of everyone’s sanity, it’s best to have a venue with a plan B in case of bad weather if you’re planning for an outdoor ceremony. It’s also super convenient to be able to have your ceremony and reception in the same place.
4. Outdoor space – shade is our best friend for weddings. While we love natural light, 4pm in the summer can be brutal if having an outdoor ceremony. Consider the time of year you’ll be getting married, as well as when the sun sets. This is why I recommend hiring your photographer before deciding on a venue, or at least before settling on a ceremony time! As you can see in the photo, we were working with black ceilings and warm-toned walls. This is a scenario where I used several flashes to produce enough light for the camera, and then lightened the background in the editing process. It’s still doable with dark ceilings and walls, but the light will be even better and easier to attain consistency with if you have light-colored ceilings and walls for your reception.

The Willows in Lubbock

The Willows in Lubbock is gorgeous. While it’s in an unexpected location, once inside its doors, you feel like you’ve stepped far beyond Lubbock. It’s full of natural light, plenty of indoor and outdoor space, and, of course, has light-colored walls. I also appreciate this particular venue for being uniquely versatile in style. It’s far from a blank canvas, but it could easily fare in many different wedding aesthetics. And we can’t forget the beautiful luscious willow trees that it’s named for.

Owned by a local homebuilding company, this place is top tier for customer service. You can expect to be treated like family here, with a seamless team of people in your court.

Lubbock TX Wedding Venue #2

Eberly Brooks Lubbock

Eberly Brooks Lubbock is a really neat venue. It’s very popular among higher-budget weddings, but the splurge is worth it. With four different buildings on the property, you have plenty to choose from for your ceremony and reception, as well as some lovely outdoor spaces. Everything here is very well done, from coordinating to send-off.

Also on the property is a small lake and a rustic windmill. You’ll find ample space in the bridal suite, and some perfect spots for intimate and private moments. The reception hall is huge, with tall ceilings and a ton of space for your caterers, cake, tables, DJ, and dancefloor.

Autumn Oaks Lubbock

Tons of natural light pours through Autumn Oak’s windows and it’s on a sweet little piece of land. I love this venue for its beautiful outdoor ceremony spot with the versatility to have an indoor ceremony if needed. It’s a stunning space and hits all of the criteria on my list!

Lubbock Spirit Ranch

Lubbock Spirit Ranch is a hidden gem in the dust bowl we call home. Once on the property, you’ll feel like you were just transported to Texas hill country. This place is stunning with a brook and fountain, a romantic bridge, catering on-site, and massive trees. It has a gorgeous reception hall, several outdoor spaces for your ceremony, and even some beautiful peacocks that live on the property.

You won’t be disappointed with the vibes of this venue. I instantly feel more relaxed when I’m there. It’s also one of my favorite spots for engagement photos. It’s truly a slice of heaven.
